Riot porn <= violence against authority porn

The aspect of riot porn I have always enjoyed isn't the strapping young lads standing up to "the man". They have their charms but after years of sitting in rooms with them I prefer them from a distance...

The part I enjoy is a leap away from a riot, a protest, or demonstration. There I have a hard time seeing anything other than the future compromises of the politicians who claim to speak on behalf of the rioters or the mediocre demands of the most political of the rioters. Here my imagination is cynical. My imagination is constrained by politicians.

What I enjoy is the risk of action without constraint. The action of setting a fire or destroying a vehicle not because of the injustice happening somewhere else to someone else but for reasons undeterminable outside the action itself.

We can inscribe our own motives but they are ours, not theirs. City blocks & cop cars, architects & cops, campuses and academics are all in league with each other and even the symbolic act against their regime brings a smile to my face.

Here are some recent smiles.

smile! Guard at federal prison fatally stabbed - Michael Taylor, Chronicle Staff Writer

(06-21) 13:18 PDT -- A recently hired guard at the federal prison in Merced County was fatally stabbed Friday by two inmates wielding homemade weapons, a prison official said today.

Jose Rivera, a 22-year-old guard at the United States penitentiary in Atwater, near the old Castle Air Force Base, was rushed to Mercy Medical Center in Merced at 3:30 p.m. Friday. He was declared dead at 4:15 p.m. Rivera, who lived in Chowchilla (Madera County), had been a guard at the prison since Aug. 5, 2007.

Prison spokesman Jesse Gonzalez said Rivera was assaulted "in a housing unit of the prison by two inmates with homemade weapons." The high-security prison houses more than 1,100 inmates.

The FBI is investigating the case.

Violence 'driving teachers away'

Teachers are warning that pupils' violent behaviour is causing staff to leave the profession.

A third of teachers in the UK have faced physical aggression from pupils, a survey for the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) suggests.

And more than half have known of colleagues who had left teaching because of poor pupil behaviour...

Green Capitalism Attacked in Santa Cruz

Inspired by the recent actions of solidarity happening in Santa Cruz, we decided to actualize our discontent and outrage at the disgusting lie that green-capitalism tells us: that there is such thing as sustainable industry. Thus our local green-capitalist home furnishing center, "Greenspace," got a landscaping rock thrown through its window.

And how great it felt to hear the giant plate glass shatter along with the illusion that commerce is invulnerable to our attacks. It was so easy it makes us giddy to think that such an act is infinitely reproducible. Not an hour out of our lives was wasted...

Nice post. I've reflected on the recent 'critical mass' in fredericton, nb from the same angle.
god you guys are dumb
The stabbing at the Atwater prison comes after a guard beat a inmate with a flashlight and then claimed that he 'ran his head into a wall.' About a year ago prisoners went on hunger strike there.
Short-lived smiles...Well, I'm certainly no fan of authoritarians in any form, and have had my share of experiences to boot, but I still can't help but see the ultimate foolishness of not digging deeper into things. Granted, some will do their best with what they have at hand; still I'm a fool dreamer, so I wish to press for truly inspiring angles of approach.

Such as, to lay a little groundwork first (which I'm sure most of you already know), that the truth of the situation with prison guards is that the system itself remains unphased when people act in such last-ditch-type ways. Granted, prisoners usually have no other recourse, so I don't fault them completely.

Of course, the way the shitstem is constructed, the architects are kept alienated (and able to perpetuate such on everyone else) while the soldiers on the ground (i.e. prison guards), and in turn, the imprisoned, get to bear the brunt.

So what I'm saying, risking getting my usual turn of brow-beating around these parts by those whom would otherwise be comrades, why not promote using collectivities of our creative intelligence and seeing bigger pictures?

I mean, like any cop, a typical prison guard finds their naive self (many are as duped as any soldier after all) in a no-win situation, with a mandate of "open season" against certain groups and individuals they are allowed to "get away with" abusing and so on.

Same with the prisoners, finding themselves in a "no win" situation.

But what if prisoners were to approach such in a more intelligent way?

Say, at the angle broached in the article "good peasant, bad peasant"? Anyone recall that? For what it's worth, one influential anarchist i know said he thought it was well done. Basically, a little ju-jitsu of the old "good cop, bad cop" strategy.

I found it here:

Note:
When you go to the link here, and you see one comment made, by phuc hed, note that I attempted a reply and was unable to post...Basically Phuc Hed says that the tactic is not usable because few would be able to afford tickets (and I chose to ignore that one) and that the cops would be called as soon as an identifyable group could be seen. My response:

Phuc Hed,
Then groups may be in complete cammoflauge, dressed as "fine, upstanding" types. And later bringing attention to certain folks that the stink was intentional, and why. Perhaps via press release or what-have-you.

As for violence driving teachers away, well you know that the shitstem ain't going to give up on its compulsory indoctrination. They'll merely drug the kids more, or institute more martial aspects to education (perhaps going back to public spanking tactics).

The last smile, hm, well if you added to that some kind of press release, to those "green" capitalists... Otherwise, they'll merely categorize such as the result of some juvenile delinquent. You know what I mean.
