01/09: What is Kriegspiel?

The goal of this blog is as a place where anarchists who are interested in war games can get together and discuss them.

The name of the blog is the name of two different games. One of them is a chess variant. It is a blind variant where you can only see your own board and where a third person serves as a referee.

That is not the game we are (as) interested in. Instead this site draws its name from a game designed by Guy Debord. This game is best described as a Clausewitz simulator. We will get into an introduction to the game over the next couple of weeks.

We (as in Anarchy magazine) actually sell a handmade version of the game.

Here is the board.

I just received the game - I´m delighted (lovely work, by the way). However, I seem to be missing 3 of the white posts (regular forts). I rechecked the envelopes, and had opened them carefully, but no luck. Any chance I could get replacements, please?

I goofed up...
What has happened is that I received the proper amount of white forts, but three more than necessary of the black ones.

Whew! I'm glad to hear that you weren't shorted any pieces. It's been my plan for a while to actually get tile pieces "professionally" done and send them to everyone who has bought the game... but who has the fucking time.

I don't see how much this costs or where to even buy it.

kf not sure if someone's responded to you yet, but it's available from little black cart (littleblackcart.org).

Clarification of Debord's use of the word "Kriegsspiel" in relation to the tradition of Prussian military wargaming and commercial board wargames:
